Here are some noteworthy statistics from the TREND MLS for the first quarter of 2012 compared to the same period in 2011.

Closed Sales are up 12.5%
Pending Sales are up 25.9%
Inventory of properties is down 9.5%
Electronic Showings are up 36%

Other sources quote the following statistics:

Unemployment nationally is 8.2%, in PA 7.6% in DE 7.0% and in NJ 9.0%
Second home market was up 7% in 2011 over 2010.
Investment purchases were up 65% in 2011 over 2010.
Experts agree that interest rates will not go down further and will probably rise by the end of the year or in 2013.
