The Obama administration is seeking to increase
the funding for the Partnership for Sustainable Communities (bringing together
the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Environmental Protection
Agency, and the Department of Transportation) from $150 million to $690
million—in 2011. It would support a series of grant and technical assistance
programs aimed at local and regional sustainable city planning efforts. (Environmental
