Chester Valley Trail
Plans for a trail to rail path through Paoli
The
first public meeting about a proposed paved path connecting the
Chester Valley Trail to the Paoli Train Station took place in order to
educate residents about the plan. Phase 2 of the Chester Valley Trail
traversing Tredyffrin will open in a few months; however, a plan to
link the trail to the Paoli train station through Cedar Hollow Road is
still on the drawing board. The connector would enable R-5 rail
commuters to cycle or walk to their offices at Vanguard and the Route
29 and Route 202-Swedesford Road corridors. Engineers intend to keep
the path within the existing 50-foot right of way. Front lawns on
private property technically would not be sacrificed, but grassy
curbside strips, sidewalks and driveways could be impinged. A redefined
plan will be presented to the public at a second meeting on September
30. The project timetable calls for a presentation to Tredyffrin
officials on Dec. 2 and Willistown officials on December 9 before it
goes to the Chester County Commissioners on December 12. Project
updates can be found at paolicvtconnector.wordpress.com.
